Let's Hope For a Troll

If this is for real, then I will seriously go and smack something in real life. Stupid. Unwarranted. Idiocy.

Anyways, hopefully that's just a random troll. He says PTR notes will pop up tomorrow, so if nothing happens within 24 hours it's cool and we can just point and laugh at him.

Edit: Probably got it from here. Looks fake.

Edit 2: Uh, where's the nerf to our burst DPS as was foretold by Eyonix?

Anyways, I just want to say that if our healing is nerfed, then our healing is dead.

I believe that Paladin healing is pretty balanced as it is right now. With the gear I have I can heal pretty well, but I still find myself having a hard time and being pressured pretty bad solo-healing heroics. If our healing is nerfed in any way I have a hard time imagining us being able to main heal at all.

We're absolutely horrible when an entire party is taking damage. Abysmal. Our efficiency of single-target healing is in my opinion as of right now striking a very good balance versus the other classes ways of healing. I wouldn't personally mind seeing the other healing classes getting a little boost on single targets, but otherwise I think things are very balanced.

Completely off-topic, but thought I'd chime in.

You know, I was poo-pooing it before giving it a shot, but Lord of the Rings Online is actually pretty fun. Props to Turbine for offering a 20-day open beta complete with free download.

Leveling is about as fast as WoW - maybe a little slower. Cap in beta is 15, I'm 10 right now (human Champion - think fury warrior). I still want to try out a Captain ("Paladin" like class, has a heal or two, but they're pretty weaksauce, described as a buffer/pet class - you get a lackey that follows you around waving your aura banner, and will help kill stuff).

One of the coolest things I just discovered tonight is the ability to play music. It sounds cheesy, but it's actually a lot of fun. You can train to play various types of instruments, and actually sit around and pluck away using your 1-8 keys (CTRL allows sharps/flats). Great way to kill some time while you're regenning health/power or camping a spawn.

The graphics are impressive - making WoW really start to show its age. Makes me wonder what Warhammer Online is going to look like. Character models are decently proportioned, with a tendency toward realism over cartooneyness.

I'm even considering preordering and becoming a "Founder." No, it's not a substitute for Warhammer. For one, there's very little actual "PvP" aside from dueling and monster play. But by preordering, your open beta characters carry over into live (giving you a 15-level jump on the n00bs), you get a couple cool in-game items, and you get a reduced subscription fee - 10 bux a month.

Truth be told, while I don't miss WoW at all, I did enjoy immersing myself in a whole new world. As a fan of the LotR novels and movies, I'm starting to really look forward to exploring the places I've read about and watched. It will be a great way to pass the time until Warhammer Online goes live.

As for the alleged Illumination nerf, it wouldn't surprise me. I can see how it's probably fake, but Blizzard is no stranger to taking the low road and catering to the whining masses (Warlocks aside). For coding sake, it's much easier to nerf one class's ability than buffing many others.

It would take some major changes for the better to bring me back. Looking more objectively on it now, I realize that even the game as a whole had moved far away from what many hoped it would be. Forum posts have even started popping up about how WoW is becoming a sort of parallel dimension EQ2, with a central focus on large-scale PvE advancement. I'm really hoping Mythic sticks to their original plans and comes up with a really fantastic RvR-centered MMO - something WoW was promising at one point (anyone remember siege weapons on the under-development page?).

That's the main thing Vaelin. Time and time again has shown, at least, correlation between forum whine and Blizzard class changes.

Totally fake.

Paladins are gonna get a fix where we don't block properly after consecrating.

I'd think it's fake. Illumination doesn't change anything, and the other trees will not be fixed by nerfing holy.

That said, Blizzard has pulled some nerfs out from left field in the past. On a totally unrealated note, I really miss the old reckoning in pvp. :P

The only real motivation I have to play my paladin is because he is a bad ass healer. Paladins aren't super over-powered when it comes to heals, we have no group heal and no HoT. If anything shadow priest are too good of a combo w/ us because we regain health and mana when they heal us w/ ve, and even more mana with vt...and we are super mana effecient to begin with........but only if we are healing one target. Even with this being the case our heals don't hit for as much as a priest or druid. My heals crit for about as much a well holy/disc priest regular heal. I just get the option of quicker casts.........

Illumination only works really well with a lot of spell crit, I'm at about 18%, so I get one in five heals for free....big deal.....

just a question, but is anyone here at all concerned about the engineering situation? i know it's been almost a fundamental part of being a paladin in the past, but for most it doesnt seem to be anymore.

The engineering situation is more like the blizzard situation. They say they don't let engineering shit into the arenas because they don't want any profession to be a 'must have' for pvp. then they give all the other professions BoP stuff that is uber, and fuck all the people who levelled engineering to 300+.

It's amazing really. They took the one profession that was good for pvp and boned it for pvp, and made the others very desirable for pvpers. It's typical blizzard design, priests dps, paladins heal. lol.

I hate to say it, but I've got information from a fairly reliable source that the current internal build of 2.1 does in fact have illumination at 50% mana. Whether that will make it to the PTR or not is still an issue. There's also a less than great change to ardent defender(not really a buff but not a nerf exactly either). They are also apparently fiddling a ton with paladin tanking(HS/BoSanc interaction?) but I haven't heard anything exceptionally positive.

The trouble is, paladins will still be the best single target raid healers even with this change. But it's going to be a lot harder to do things like main heal a heroic, which is kind of an important part about a healing spec.

Truth be told, I am glad I switched to shaman. I figured I would be bored of it by now and go back to my paladin, but yesterday I ended up tanking Kiggler for our Maulgar(got tier 4 elemental shoulders, yay) raid. Kind of ironic after trying for years to get my paladin to tank progression content, it ends up my shaman who does it first(I even was mostly self-healing).

Oh Q. freaking Q. Imagine being a hammersmith and having a weapon it took a month to make be totally outclassed by a quest reward from the first bosses in ZG and AQ, and watching as engineers get teleports all over the place, nut guns, death rays, etc. How would you feel leveling up to 300 in a profession where THAT was what you had to look forward to?

Engineering was the gravy train for a long time, don't try to play the 'woe is us' argument.

I agree with above statement. Blacksmithing was a piece of trash for over two years.

blacksmithing at least always had some marketability so neither eng nor bs was as fantastic as they could have been. now, bs has everything and engy has stuff that's mainly not only undesirable to engineers, but useless to everyone else. so stop with the ironic fingers-pointed QQing yourself, anon.

Just chiming with my 2 cents on this, but no profession should ever, ever be a "fundamental" part of a class. Should some have a high amount of syncronization with certain specs and jobs? Yes, but never fundamental. The reason why is that if something is a "fundamental" part of the job, it means that you pretty much have to take it. The whole point of professions is being able to choose which one you want, not be railroaded into one choice in order to "keep up".

And in response to "now, bs has everything" maybe for a tanking paladin... but what it brings to the table for a holy paladin is about 5 or 6 pieces of gear, all easily replacable with upper level non-raiding gear. Yay for blacksmithing. Glad I spent months leveling it only to find out that it's useless for me in endgame. Yay.

Ummm, what?

-Repair bot
-Jumper Cables
-Teleporter

Yes, engineering is in a sad state, because it is not the de facto profession of the arena!

marketability = able or fit to be sold or marketed.

Items that require engineering to use aren't 'marketable'.
