Even if $100 is Hanging Out of a Retnoob's Zipper?
A guy in the Raid and Dungeons forum asks "Would you or do you accept Retribution-specced paladins for endgame raids?". Interesting responses, though fairly obvious and just reaffirmation of our existing beliefs.

I really lucked out in having a guild let me stay Ret. Been with them since EQ1 and I'm the only paladin they'll let stay Ret.
But I know the feeling that other Retadin's are going through. For Karazhan I really get shafted sometimes (except for Moroes, dorf paladin ftw~!). Gruul's isn't so bad, and I really can't wait for 10-man's to be something of the past.
The post helps highlight the fact that Retribution is undeniably the weakest tree for Paladins by far right now. The utility that it was given for raiding is most beneficial for 40 man content. At 25, it just barely scales well enough to justify having on your second string.
I should also point out, for those that hadn't seen my forum posts, that I've finally canceled my WoW account. It will expire April 6th, so I'll be lurking on the WoW boards and fighting for Ret viability until then. You'll also probably see less and less from me unless and until Blizzard decides to address the lingering issue of Paladins standing at the back of raids.
I posted this in the General forum, and within 20 minutes it was bumped to page 3. I'd post it in the Paladin forum too but I'm not one for double posting.

This is why I rolled a paladin

"Paladins are the consummate knights in shining armor, meant to be in the thick of things. Their defensive abilities allow them to stand toe to toe with monsters and take a beating - they are tanks overall. Wielding their mighty hammers and the strength of the Light, these holy warriors command forces in battle, continuously throwing themselves into the fray wherever the fighting is the thickest. The Paladin is a mix of a melee fighter and a secondary spell caster."
Then there was some hope:

Then we look at today.
So... what happened?
Vaelin, you will be missed. =C
In other news, Warriors are FUN!
Man... I love tanking!

You know.. I've yet to see what a properly geared, properly specced Retribution paladin can do simply because the world tells them they suck and if they aren't specced Holy, they're wasting the everyone else's bandwidth and processing power.
Honestly, does it even matter what Paladins can do offensively? You want to DPS then don't be paladin.
Besides, if paladins could DPS we would be incredibly too strong. We're already top 3 tank and top 3 healing, and make strong cases for top 1 spot for both. Want to be top 3 DPS? Be a warlock, mage or rogue.
I almost wish they'd take out retribution completely and give us something else that made us better buffers. Then again, everyone would just complain that the buffs don't raise paladin DPS high enough.
Paladins are the best healer in the game right now. I don't think too many people with argue with me, but 2 second holy light spams hitting between 4k and critting for 7k for zero mana? Not to mention a shadow priest behind us gives us crazy amounts of mana due to mana from the priest and mana from priests heals. We might lack a HoT or a group heal, but thats what the back up healers are for.
Paladins are the best at holding aggro. I know some people want to argue with that, but if they ever watched me tank, nothing draws aggro away from me, too bad I die quick, I'd say we are #3 in tanking, after warrior and druid.
DPS? We are dead last. Every other class has a tree that they can squeeze dps out of. Paladins can go full ret, get ret gear and do ok dps.
It all kind of makes sence, and balanced. Look at druids, they are okay at everything. Warriors, suck except for tanking, moderate dps, rogues, only dps...etc...etc.......
