Make Battlegrounds Faction-Neutral

Now that both factions have Shamans plus Paladins and with the release of arenas, I can not foresee a sufficient argument as to why this can not happen: it would ease up queue times considerably for battlegroups that have an alliance overpopulation and it would make battleground games more balanced with the bonus that no longer would map layouts be to blame for losing.

My proposal is to do the following: make it so that it's possible for either Horde or Alliance to start on the opposite faction's side and use the technology employed at Old Hillsbrad to masquerade the races to add relative consistency to the map environment (i.e. Humans become Undead, Dwarves become Trolls, etc. just as if using Orb of Deception).

You know how great this would be? Battleground strategies would double because the layouts will double. Overall things would become more dynamic and interesting because you would never know which side you would start on. And of course, most important of all queue times would be cut in half.

I may not be an RP'er, but I have to say... I'm horde, and if I popped into a BG and my orc got aspect'd into a gnome, I'd afk out so fast it'd make your head spin.

Though I realize you're mainly really talking about making alliance look like horde, about which I don't know how they feel.

I think this would make the BG que much shorter and prehaps both factions would enjoy fighting side by side.. but maybe you'd still get horde from say Moonglade not even attempting to help out the ally from Moonglade if spawned onto the same team.

A bad idea, I'm afraid to say.
It's hard enough to get people to cooperate in BG's anyway; and like the above said, if you had a mostly horde group with a few alliance? You'd know precisely why when the orc with the mana bar and plate gear on was just hopping around and not doing anything constructive, or randomly DI'ing the horde mt who was after stormpike, pulling all the warmasters, or so on. Also, there's can be a strong animosity between the factional players sometimes. This'd be opening up the door for cursing matches over the bg channel when they could finally actually talk. Or the non-stop spamming. While this could lighten queue times, the cross-server business has cut them down pretty drastically already in my experience, so I don't think it's really that necessary.

Also, it could pretty much just give the other side a free spy, if people were on vent together. sabotage ftl.

That would ruin the Ambiance of the game.

The only time I'd like to see Horde and Alliance working together is maybe in a PVE situation. Since it did happen in the Lore.

I don't know about disguising to look like the opposing factions, or mixing horde and alliance into the same teams...

BUT why can't you have alliance vs. alliance battles or Horde vs. Horde? You already do in the arenas. All you need is to have one alliance team start on the horde side of the map or the Horde team start on the alliance side. Give the "Horde side" alliance a gold flag (Have them be Wildhammer, Honor Hold, Thorium Brotherhood or some faction other than Alliance). You could have the npcs shift to faction specific variants. That's not too huge of a stretch.. you fight against same race enemies all the time in PvE.

You're trying to solve a consequence of alliance overpopulation that only benefits alliance. Why not also address world pvp objectives? As a Horde, I have been in the outlands now for 3 weeks and only ONCE in any zone have I seen the pvp buff. I log on my alliance toon, and its like a permanent buff. Being alliance or horde you have to live with both the advantages and disadvantages.

On all the newer servers Horde massively outnumber Alliance so yes this does apply to both sides.

Thomas,

The way to fix that is to allow alliance members to transfer to the horde, and not vice versa. I'm sure many paladins along with others would transfer in a second to benefit from the more pvp friendly racials the horde has.

The trick to pulling this off would be to make a battleground in the Caverns of Time. Basically have two different Time Keepers argue over the best way to patch up an event that the infinite dragonflight interfered with.

When you start the bg you would find yourself at one of the starting points and a Time Keeper could explain your goal for patching up the tear in time. Horde and Alliance couldn't fight with each other but they could fight against their own faction.

Great idea! Caverns of Time solves everything.
