I see a lot of people on the pally forums who think this is the death of the critadin. They are wrong. For anyone who thinks this will kill the critadin spec...

It's a strike, so it's crit will depend on your physical crit rate, so you can stack spell power for an extra couple of points of holy damage, or you can stack +crit for use with fanatcism, judgements, and now this.

If anything it makes the critadin spec more viable, like it was pre-1.9.

I'm suprised they gave us this, it's going to be quite a burst damage boost. I wonder if seal of command will proc off of it? This could be really crazy. I hate to sound pessimistic at what should be good news, but I expect a nerf.

Well with the NDA lifted, and this change I have to admit that I am indeed a whore...and Blizzard is my pimp.

I never thought they'd do it, but from the looks of things BC is turning into everything I could ever hope for. Im going to have to go out and buy it now and start paying for it and feeling like a filthy slut cause I want it...I want it bad...

Im going to go cry in the shower now.

Asked someone in the beta, something I think every paladins should know:

Does Righteous Defense (new taunt) work with Divine Shield? Is it permanent aggro ala taunt, or just temporary ala challenging shout?

Only if you have the bubble up first. Bubbling still drops your aggro. It is just like taunt, a permanent aggro.

Say Hello to Paladin Shield Wall, on a 4 min cooldown (with talents). Bubble, Taunt, Laugh.

Niiiice.

40% of holy damage could be a pretty good amount of +damage, and the additional "Refreshes Judgements" effect is also a nice damage.

It should be noted that this Strike will follow the rules of strikes wrt Attack Speed Normalisation, just for reference.

The reckoning change is pretty good as a tanking ability now (ironically, not so good in PvP as other melee classes tend to crit more than this rate) and means that the effectiveness of the talent is not diminished by +defense (or whatever the -crit% ability is). I would just like it to have a +threat modifier added, or allowing to to proc seal effects (Specifically SoV or SoR for the added threat).

The new Sanctified Crusader position is fantastic because it also allows us to spec pretty high into Prot or Holy as a PvE debuff spec, or drop it entirely for a foll-on PvP spec. The change to 3 points for the full effect is an okay compromise for this IMO.

Other than that, not much I can say. Nice changes, though some new talents to round out tier 8 would be nice. But maybe that's just me being greedy :D

Did blue say this somewhere? Because you know hemo doesn't have normalization..maybe this doesn't either? It is cool either way. As long as it's physical damage, based on our weapon and physical crit, it will be pretty damn good. If it procs seals (ie command) it will be insane.

I wait.

Blizzards history of nerfing paladins is legendary and beyond any logic (look at kalgan - an idiot at best) - they never gave Paladin a good thing unless forced to.

What we now see is the bare minimum if they want to keep the class in the game.

Late, too late maybe.

There is no reason to be thankful - after all they had done this is only a small start - a minimum requirement - not even more. If they want to repair the class, much more have to be done.

Lets wait and see, what of the changes comes live. I expect some serious nerfes because it takes not much reason to nerf paladins hard.

I am in the beta and I've done fellfire penn, a few times now, I have to say I LOVE the new taunt. It's so great, it has saved the raid so many times, I get to do things in groups now, it's fun :)

And they havent implemented Crusader Strike in the current version of the beta yet, oh and also our so called hamstrink is a piece of shit, JoJ only makes it so the enemy cannont move faster than THIER NORMAL SPEED, it is nice against a rogue since it means you they cant sprint, or a hunter, but it's overall a pos

Crusader Strike - An instant strike that causes weapon damage plus 40% of your Holy spell damage and refreshes all Judgements on the target.

I like to clear some things I cant seem to get, what's plus 40% Holy spell damage?

Edit from the above post, is it 100% damage (+ 40% of the holy spell damage in terms of white damage?)

Like for eg, I hit for 500, i have gear that tallies to +100 dmg/healing effects.

So total, i hit for 500 + 40 (40% of 100) ?

That is the jist of it that I got xgelis. So you would hit for 540, crit for 1080 (before armor mitigation of course).

To take a more extreme example, say you have +300 spell damage. You would hit for 500 + about 130. So hits for 630, crits for 1260 (pre mitigation).

Of course, if you have +300 spell damage, your melee crit rate is probably low.

Cool, thanks lord vir. So it's an all 100% white physical damage.
Looking forward, 1 month more or so left to clock down.

I've been holy for ages. Since this patch came out and I haven't been raiding much I decided to spec full Ret-noob for my occasional pvp fix. HOLY CRAP!!! I can actually do damage like any level 60 should be able to. But with plate armor I was kicking peoples asses one after another in the BG. For the first time in ages I don't hate being a pally. Thanks Bliz! (for once you didn't F@#k us)
