Outstanding Achievement in the Field of Excellence

Wow.

Blizzard are fast.

Damn fast.

This morning we got some changes in the Protection tree...already! Flibble posted all about it. Changes are to Redoubt, Improved Devotion, Holy Shield and Reckoning. Thanks for bringing this to my attention, Suicidal Zebra.

Weird, I was fooling around with the tree about three hours ago and didn't notice the changes. That's funny.

While he was on it, Flibble also made a post critiquing the new Pally trees and layout very constructively. While some of the changes probably will never happen, much of it make total sense.

Reckoning is kinda cool. Instead of 1 extra attack after a crit you got 4 extra attacks over 4 hits for 8 seconds. I'm pretty sure this is to promote 1-hand usage from protection paladins since you could use up all charges before 8 seconds.

And if you get crit again I don't know if it will stack or just refresh the buff. It would mean 1 extra attack for all attacks when fighting a rogue since they would crit you and refresh the buff on you constantly. Ouch.

On the other hand there's no more reck bombs or strings of extra attacks. Before you could get crit 9 times in 3 seconds and get 9 extra attacks in 3 seconds giving you unparalleled burst damage. Now the damage boost is somewhat constant.

Oh BTW, you might have missed it but consecration is shown as a base spell now.

Holy crap.

Pally tanking might really be viable now.

I hope they don't screw things up like they did 2 weeks before WoW's release back in 2004.

Threat modifier to Holy Shield is a definite buff. I believe that in its current state, the modifier is only 10%.
