1.10 is now out on test!

Lo and behold! Go download it! The thing that's different with 1.10 than previous tests is that now you actually get to choose between pre-made characters. They're fully decked out with very nice gear I assume as the case, since this is how they did in Europe on their test servers.

By the way, make sure you don't confuse Horde Priest with Horde Mage. They screwed up the names and one of my guild members' had to waste his second transfer slot due to this.

Edit 1: Here are the new Lightforge Set bonuses. The stats of the set pieces don't seem to have been touched.

Edit 2: Guess what the Soulforge Set bonuses are? They're the exact same bonuses as Lightforge, except in reverse. Pretty clever -- since upgrading your Dungeon set is linear, that means that you get to keep the exact same set bonuses even if you've only got half of Lightforge and half of Soulforge. Clever!

Edit 3: Here's a picture of a Paladin with the Soulforge set and the AV tabard. Wow -- compared to Lightforge it really looks, well, odd. Totally not like anything I expected.

Edit 4: Here's a better picture with a comparison. Item changes and stuff are found in this thread, which is awesome. Just read it.

From the test realm:

Soulforge, if the bracers are indication, is going to rock. Well rounded stats, spell damage/healing bonus, and should look sweet. Dark purple/blue with silver.

Divine Favor is not clearing as a buff when you cast it before Holy Shock. It will, however, go away if you cast a heal. This is clearly a bug, as it allows you to cast Holy Shock and land a crit as a damage spell every 30 seconds.

My "Strike" macro still works. Whatever they did to the /SpellStopCasting() function did not eliminate the single button push reseal/judge in one move.

More to come as I continue to play tonight.

Make that no more to come tonight. Stuck at Retrieving Character List and no end in sight. It may have something to do with the fact that 3/4 of the population is camping the frostsaber spawns in Winterspring for the first armor quest.

I just got on the test server on my pre-made pally. All us pallies start off w/a free talent respec, 150g, bottomless bags filled w/regents, bandages, instance keys, an epic mount, and regents for your teir 0.5 upgrades. The gears you get are:

Lightforge 8/8
Eartheshaker
Don Julio's Band
Quick Strike Ring
Eskhandar's Collar
Eskhandar's Pelt
Blackhand's Breadth
Drake Fang Talisman

Personally I would've liked an option to have some +to spell power trinkets and stuff too but oh well ;p

In light of this sweet new feature to roll a well geared lvl 60, I bit the bullet and burned my second copy on a Tauren Shaman. Figured I'd try him out and get the top level perspective on our nemesis. At the moment, though, I'm in about the 2500th place in queue to log in.

kyosei - how do you know our bags also contain what we need for our later armor upgrade quests? My suspicion was that this was the case, but I didn't want to get my hopes up as they looked very reasonable to obtain. I was afraid we'd have to go around collecting wheelbarrows of arcanite bars and grinding dungeons for 0.001% drops from bosses (Chromatic Carapace anyone?).

The Soulforge color is a bit evil looking for a pally set. Even Judgment which is intended to look sinister has a more "holy" color scheme. I mean gray/black/purple scheme doesn't exactly scream holy.

At least the druid set goes from dark purple scheme to a bluish/green scheme. It better represents my tree huggin druid self.

All the sets in pictures, with Dungeon 1 next to Dungeon 2.

Soulforge is growing on me. I definitely like the silver. The helm is still fugly, but the shoulders are kinda nice now that there is some color contrast and detailing.

A few thoughts from test:

1. I rolled a shadow priest, and mopped the floor with paladins, warriors and rogues without even knowing how to play the class. It was seriously insane.

2. Critting holy shock every 30 seconds is nice, too bad it's a bug. :)

3. The earthshaker is a good paladin weapon, that thing procs like crazy, and works well with judgement of justice.

Oh yeah, and the new "Stripperforge" set is ridiculous. Purple on a paladin. wtf.

Your Hero,

Purple was considered a color of royalty and nobility long before it was associated with the effeminate. It's even used in biblical imagery of divine royalty. I don't see where you're coming up with the term "Stripperforge" as there's nothing revealing about the set. Go expand your cultural and historical horizons.

My major issue with the coloring is just that it's not consistant with the other sets. On the plus side, I just picked up the Stormpike Tabard and when you combine the Flameguard gauntlets, LF shoulders/pants/boots and the Judgement head with an OEB...well the effect is rather intimating.
