Doesn't matter if it's fake or not...
...but this post brings up valid points of what might be the explanation for many things, Ghmou who claims his brother has a chat with a Blizzard employee (I know, original -- isn't it?), says:

...In the email discussion, the unnamed Blizzard employee indicated that Paladins were a bit of an Enigma. His brother also said "They don't know what to do with Paladins."
With their defensive nature, they could excel at tanking, but cannot due to balance issues. [My brother] broke it down like this:
1) Paladins could be decent tanks if they had a taunt, but they cannot be made "main tanks" because they are both Alliance specific and because this could possibly anger and devalue Warriors.
2) Paladin healing is fine in a raid setting, but increasing their PvP healing capacity (other than the new 15% non-interrupt bonus from Imp. Concentration Aura) would be too "powerful" considering their other abilities. This could also discourage or devalue Alliance Droods and Priests.
3) Paladin DPS is the big problem. With plate and heals, it makes it difficult to balance DPS. Paladin DPS is largely reliant on Holy Damage, which is unresistable. If Paladins were given more "white" DPS while keeping the current level of Holy damage, Invulnerability shields, heals and cleansing, they could potentially become overpowered, resulting in a serious imbalance. Especially considering the number of high-level Paladins that exist in the game.

I just thought I would point out that it was the Blizzard employee, not my brother, who was quoted as saying "They don't know what to do with Paladins."
This is far more significant that it would be coming from my brother.
Nothing we didn't know from rumors and deduction, but it is very nice to see this confirmed.
We were Gods once, you know.
On a happier note, I log in every day with my retired paladin, who now spends his golden years sitting by the auction house in Darnassus, transmuting an undeath to water every day and sewing a mooncloth every few days in the nearby moonwell to keep his retirement fund topped off, and provide for his beloved yet enstranged daughter, who was taken by the Scourge and then liberated by the Forsaken. Every time he makes his rounds, he is happy to note that pretty much every group forming always asks for paladins. He is glad that, as he has retired with so many others of his generation, the remaining active paladins are less numerous and therefore more sought-after.
I'm just suprised the thread hasn't been locked/deleted. God forbid we point out the emperor has no clothes.
Sorry Thoma as of 9:20CST the thread is gone. What a surprise?

Big shock. Christ I wish we had a CM who played our class. I can see the 1.10 patch notes:
Mageblade turned to Class:Mage, Warlock
Auzrestone Hammer has been made Class: Priest, Druid
Finkle's lava dredger has been made class : Druid
And Sulfuras has been made class: Warrior
I reposted the thread.

If the host of this fabulous site would kindly change the link... =D
I just want to say that the last reason is complete horseshit. Population density should never effect the changes to a given class. The population density would automatically even out if each class was equally attractive. Balancing DPS based on class population has got to be the stupidest thing I have ever heard. Rogues anyone?
