T6 Pics Revealed

Graphics for the tier 6 armor sets, and just about anything else you'd want to know about patch 2.1 is available over at www.mmochampion.com (thanks to WoW Insider for the tipoff). Here it is: Lightbringer Armor.

As of writing this post, the only stats available are for the mage set. If Blizzard maintains their trend, there will be choices for different specs for appropriate classes. IMO, it's leaps and bounds better than Crystalforge. While I like the overall color scheme and feel, I can already predict some of the comments that will arise:
  • lol, gundam (helm/shoulders)
  • rofl, bewbz (seriously, what's up with the large plate nipples?)

I somehow got a small feeling floating around in my head, that this Tier-6 model/design, is somehow partially-based on the 'Paladin' in warcraft 2 timeline.
Yep, in the past when the Paladins 1st started out, they were portrayed & drawn out to be wearing warrior-knight-like armor.
My point: I'm saying, dun you people think this T6 design fits that description?

And correct me if I'm wrong, T6 will appear in BT, by which it's history may have been stretched back to the past. (Anyway Turalyon maybe seen in this armor or something in the 'prison' under BT).

The wow model viewer doesn't really do a good job of rendering the sets to their actual in-game appearance as it can't deal with lighting effects (or at least doesn't in the screenshot).

That is Fanatik's Tier6 in-game preview of the Tier-6 sets, and the Paladin set looks pretty good, much better than in the screenshot IMO. Probably my 3rd favourite in fact, after Warlocks and Priests, and no-where near as absurd as Shaman t6 (or Crystalforge *shudder*).

The weird sticky out bits on the helm and shoulders are probably a glow effect that either hasn't rendered properly or was snapped mid-sparkle.

If it's not one of those thing and is indeed a permanent feature, then it sucks nipples. The ones on the chest piece, to be precise...

Fanatik gives us a look of the T6 armors, on various chars, in movement. No viruses or keyloggers on the link, honest. Perhaps you can find it on YouTube also but you'll have to look on your own then.

And just what the f-ck is up with that crown thing... imo Blizzard failed with this armor. T6 should be insanely spectacular (like hunter/shaman/lock) and not 'nice' or 'pleasant'. Rogues get shafted again, all their tiers look the same.

The nipples look like they're part of a sash.

Tbh, with helm hidden I would actually like Crystalforge, especially the shoulders but this is just too much.

As usual, the Warlocks get the most awesome tier 6 model. Freaking dragon wings??? Are you serious?

It's not that bad in general, and if you compare it to the past paladin sets, it's pretty good.

The boobs that look like they are holding up a sash/cape would be better if they were a different color (ie, red) and up much higher so they look like a sash/cape holder, and not BOOBS.

More of the same.

Not awful, not that impressive.

Enjoy the illumination nerf.

You know, WoW has so jaded me about Paladins (healing classes in general) I think I'll only play "pure" classes in MMOs from now on.

Hybrids just cause too much trouble. Healing, too, in a raiding game.

Ugh.

I tried T5 on the PTR and found it looked great on my female paladin. I think they beefed up the boots. Didn't the boots look like socks before?

actually if you look at that video, the bolts look like they're right about aligned with the corner of the shoulder and don't really look like boobs unless you're lookin' to see boobs. they look like a believable point of attachment.

at least it is something resembling armor, and not purple spandex. the nipple things, if i'm not mistaken, are simplified renditions of actual armor bits that were designed to go about nipple area, or a bit to the side of them, and aid in the protection of the underarm area, which was a vulnerable point in plate mail, given the flexibility needed. i cannot recall what they are called, for some reason i'm thinking 'gorget', but i could be wrong here.

for some reason, the t6 shoulderpads for every race are huge beyond necessity or even reason. i mean, the shaman and priest stuff is like having dinner platters on your shoulders. it borders on the imbecilic.

that said, i do like this armor, paladins who get this will look damn fine. 'specially the female ones, as thier armor is properly proportioned and not subject to the 'huge doodz in huge armor' art style that blizzard has developed for this game. i blame samwise dedier.

I like it. Question is if I am going to play long enough to see them on me...

Almost, the gorget protected the neck, think turtleneck of steel plating. What you are thinking about is called besagews (!) mmm taste that name :)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Besagews

"Besagews are circular defences designed to protect the armpits, as part of a harness of plate armour. Armour without besagews might employ larger shoulder defenses, such as winged pauldrons or simply leave the mail beneath exposed."

This is rather off-topic, but I'm not sure how else to bring this to the attention of paladinsucks.com.

From Kalgan (Tom Chilton, lead designer):

First, thank you for the suggestions. There are a lot of valid points made in the threads.

However, while I don't disagree that there aren't many highly rated ret pallies, it's worth pointing out that there also aren't many highly rated prot warriors, destro locks, balance druids, survival hunters, enhancement shamans, etc.

While trying to get each spec to be arena viable in the different formats is a noble goal, the reality is that it isn't an immediate goal for every spec to be optimized for every aspect of the game (arenas, battlegrounds, solo-ing, raiding, heroics, etc).

In the case of arenas, it seems to me that getting each class reasonably represented in highly rated teams is a more important goal, and unfortunately the paladin class happens to be somewhat grossly over-represented in this regard.

http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=96961585&pageNo=1&sid=1#3

In short, the paladin class as a whole is being nerfed because we're too good in arenas.

I can't wait for something -- anything -- better to come around. WoW is just going down the tubes.
