The Worst Paladin Nerf Ever Conceived

Ahh yes...after several days, almost weeks of lack of stuff to talk about it all comes out in one burst. Something bad has come up: the list of new Priest spells. One of them is Mass Dispell:
Dispels magic in a 15 yard radius, removing 1 harmful spell from each friendly target and 1 beneficial spell from each enemy target. Affects a maximum of 5 friendly targets and 5 enemy targets. This dispel is potent enough to remove Magic effects that are normally undispellable.
(emphasis mine)

What does that mean? Hello Divine Shield nerf.

One person asks:
You designed the Paladin around Divine Shield. If it is now dispellable, you can adjust your design around that
And this is what Kalgan has to say about it:
This is actually true to some degree. It does allow us to adjust our designs accordingly. We felt that complete immunity with no viable counter has too significant an impact on group pvp.

At this point, we'll be better able to evaluate how much of an effect this counter has in group pvp during BC testing, and make other changes as necessary. Bear in mind that everything you see in the class/talent preview page is a reflection of what things are like in testing now, but not necessarily how things will be once the expansion is live.
And Kalgan continues with:
I don't know that you can necessarily call it negated
- It has a 1.5 second cast time, which means you have plenty of time to stun them as they cast Mass Dispel. It also means any other friendlies have an opportunity to interrupt it.
- Casting Divine Shield would still get you out of any form of crowd control and remove any debuffs, even if it got dispelled after the fact.
- You're talking about 1 of 9 classes that can counter it.
- Using your words, if it's "already on a 5 minute cooldown", then that implies to me that you've already learned to survive without it most of the time. :0
- It costs the priest a substantial chunk of mana, so it isn't something they can throw around carelessly.
Priests are just going to completely decimate us in 1 vs 1 now.

Don't forget about the new Paladin talent in the protection tree, Stoicism. I believe it gives a 30% chance to resist dispelling effects.

^^ But it's a talent, some people may not even want to spend 17 points in the Protection tree for a rather crappy 30% resist..Blizz is just unbelievable

kalgan said "We felt that complete immunity with no viable counter has too significant an impact on group pvp." How does it make a signifcant impact in grp PvP we barely have time to do any damaged while bubbled and if we heal, horde wait and kill us after only occasionally does it help but other classes still overpower us

About time lol!

Seriously they should put Divine Shield as a 21 talent somewhere to make it on par with shamans. Or make Shaman's Nature's Swiftness a skill and not a 21 point talent.

Either way something had to be done about Divine Shield :)

Have a nice day

Grats blizz! I'm not buying the expansion now. BG's are going to be mostly the 2v2 or 5v5 arena type in BC, and basically priests are going to own paladins even more than they do now.

Paladins are getting a DPS increase via avenging wrath and the top of retribution, but in no way will it make up for DS being vunrable to the AOE dispell.

Saying that priests won't use it because of the mana cost is a joke. Priests easly run around with 6k mana now, and a AOE dispell when a paladin pops their bubble is a fight changer.

All this from the top crying class in every patch. Hrmm..... What did pally's get for blue responces for issues b4 the last patch? 185, Shamans = 58. So qq somemore please.. Oh yea.. forgot your alliance.. you wouldn't be happy unless it was "Devine shield, Instant cast spell that provides complete immunity for 3,789,345 seconds. All damage prevented is returned to the source with 20x damage multiplier. Cooldown 1 second." It isnt a pally nurf. Its an enhancement to the priest. Oh yea.. and as far as priest's PWN'n you .. LRN2PLAY

Oh My God. I really could not believe it was about Divine Shield when I read it.. Consider our crappy DPS, we kinda need SOMETHING that sticks out at least a tad? It is mostly 2 healings or 2 hits anyway, way less than many otehr classes have. This on top of forbearance..... Yeah, it could possibly be one of the things that does make me stop playing in the end. The new DPS isnt nearly enough to totally making Divine Shield useless when priests are nearby. In the expansion, 6k mana will be a what people in blues got. 10k mana is more probable on the Tier 4-5 of the later equipment... 1,5 sec, bah that is like not even a whole lagspike! I could agree if it was like 5 sec cast time or something more balanced..

Paladins are the weakest class in all of WOW. Big deal we can take a lot of punishment but can't kill ANYTHING unless they are nearly dead.

Paladin's are a frustrating boring class to play and if you are in effect basicly makeing divine shield useless, which right now they slowed the attack time to 100% from 50%, than what to @$#%^ with it! What little satisfaction we get from the bubble is taken away from us.

I don't have time to level another character up to 60. I'm done! Pally's will become more rare and eventually extinct.

No one will miss us because who need us anyways. Were're just a bonus. The cherry on top of the Bananna split.
